In-company programmes: Transition and Sustainability
In-company teaching and consulting on shaping sustainable transitions
How do you shape transitions of major social issues in a complex playing field? USBO and the Copernicus Institute combine their expertise on shaping complex transitions and sustainability and together offer education for professionals as well as advice to organisations.
‘At incompany education we work with state-of-the-art knowledge and practices and we reinforce what an organisation needs to answer its own questions,’ says managing director Marie-Jeanne Schiffelers of USBO consultancy. ‘It is a combination of theory, the input of experience and case histories from participants and learning methods that suit professionals. The playing field of a transition is often complex, with different sub-interests. The trick is to know who has which role in which. We offer insights that can help you get a grip on this in a good way, so that you can ultimately achieve the common goals.’
What can Utrecht University offer in transitions?
Giving insight into:
- how transitions work
- how to involve parties
- where barriers often lie
- and how to take steps.
The knowledge is based on theories from current scientific research focusing on sustainability issues. Schiffelers: ‘After all, specific mechanisms and factors play a role there. The breadth of the university means that a wide range of expertise can be brought together. Our knowledge of transitions is supplemented with the knowledge of climate scientists on climate adaptation and reduced CO2 emissions, with legal experts if environmental law plays a role and with other administrative and organisational scientists if, for example, the democratic content of a process or network cooperation is involved.’
