How can organisations successfully implement diversity and inclusion policies? This masterclass teaches HR professionals and D&I officers to look at their policies in a systematic and evidence-based way. After this masterclass, you will be aware of the latest scientific insights and can apply this knowledge directly to your own organisation’s D&I policy. You will be guided by experienced D&I experts.

“We offer an evidence-based approach to get a better grip on policy in one's own organization”

Prof. dr. Jojanneke van der Toorn

What will you do?

In three sessions, you will learn to look at the D&I (Diversity and Inclusion) policy of your organization in a new way. Each participant will bring their own policy case to which the new approach will be directly applied. You will be introduced to the latest scientific insights on effective D&I policy and learn what does and doesn’t work according to science for your specific case. In between the sessions, you will apply this knowledge and write an action plan to actually implement your case. You will receive feedback from both scientists and fellow policy officers.

During the sessions, you will be challenged by guest lecturers who give lectures on their own research on D&I policy in organizations. Additionally, there is plenty of room to discuss your own experiences. Finally, we offer the option to request a free consultation with one of the lecturers within a year after attending the masterclass to discuss challenges in the next steps. This way, you will receive a versatile toolbox that you can continue to apply to the entire D&I policy of your organization.

Programme

The masterclass consists of three sessions:

  • Session 1: Understanding scientific knowledge

In the first session, you will gain insight into the pitfalls and challenges of D&I policies in organisations according to the latest scientific knowledge. You will also learn why implementing effective D&I policies in practice often becomes so difficult. Finally, you will be given a different, more systematic approach to developing and implementing your diversity policy.

    Preparation: approx. 4 hours Meeting: February 28, 2024, 12.00-16.00 p.m.

  • Session 2: Application to policy case study

In this session, you apply the systematic approach to a case from your organisation. You discuss your experiences with your fellow participants. Each case will receive feedback from the lecturers and the other course participants. After this session, you can further develop and implement your own approach within your organisation.

    Preparation: approx. 3 hours Meeting: March 13, 2024, 12.00-16.00 p.m.

  • Session 3: Organising support

During the third session, you present your case to your fellow participants and show how you applied the systematic approach. You will also work on communicating the new approach within your organisation and organizing support for it. You make an action plan to implement this after the masterclass.

    Preparation: approx. 3 hours Meeting: March 27, 2024, 12.00-16.00 p.m.

Certification

At the end of the master class, you will receive a certificate of participation.
