Teaching effective study skills

In a three-hour workshop, you will be handed tips and tricks that will enable you, as a teacher, to boost your students’ study skills with a few small interventions.

“This is important for the exam”. As a teacher, you often get students’ attention with this statement. But do they know what and especially how to prepare? In this workshop you will learn how you as a teacher can stimulate the study skills of your students.

If you ask students when they start ‘learning’ they often answer with: “in the week before the exam”. Especially first-year students have great difficulty with spreading learning activities and studying effectively. Because what does “study chapter 3” mean? Is reading it once enough, should you know the concepts by heart, do you have to be able to reproduce the line of reasoning, or do you have to criticise?
