Data School gives five-part course to Utrecht municipality

AI Act: the intersection of law, technology and ethics

The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) poses complex issues for public administration professionals. Besides challenges around data and technology in a broad sense, the European AI Regulation has now entered into force. Organisations must comply with it, and from February 2025 it will be mandatory to have sufficient AI knowledge in-house. This knowledge must match the specific context in which AI systems are deployed and the impact these systems can have on individuals and communities. This makes in-service training essential.

To support civil servants in understanding and acting within this changing context, Utrecht University is organising a course focusing on the legal, technological and ethical aspects of AI in early 2025. During this course, offered in cooperation with the municipality of Utrecht, participants will be fully immersed in AI regulation in five in-depth sessions.
